I am experiencing the exact same issue.
HP should seriously address this problem instead of ignoring it.
Please stop suggesting unhelpful solutions like updating drivers.
This is obviously related to your hardware configuration, BIOS settings or any your **bleep**. Why is it that only this device behaves this way?
Additionally, the HDMI-in connection does not allow brightness adjustment when connected to PS5.

I have the same issue. I returned the unit and they are sending me a replacement. If it doesn't work I'm not messing around with drivers and what have you. Will be returning it for a full refund. How can they sell a product where can't adjust the brightness level. Seems such a basic thing,

Same issue here! I don‘t know whats happening, but I also can‘t adjust the brightness sometimes. The only way to fix is a reboot. You can‘t even change the brightness over the OSD by pressing the button on the back of the HP.
Another issue I have are those always on Fans. Do your fans also spin all time even if the cpu load is in idle mode and low temp?

I think it is a problem with the entire model, this is my second OminoStudio AIO 31.5 and both of them from day one, as soon as I set windows the brigtness display slider under display settings does not work no matter what i do.

I have had similar issues with mine too which just happened one day out of the blue after a month of purchasing the unit.
I contacted support several times who have asked me to reinstall drivers, bios etc., and even showed them that the brightness slider was not working as expected via TeamViewer. Something that they told me was new to them and despite being offered, either a new unit or money back from technical support. I was told by the post sales team that as I was outside of the 30 day purchase refund window, what was promised by TS was incorrect and that the only solution was to send it back to the service centre in the UK for repair.
They confirmed that "following our investigation, I would like to inform you that the unit has been thoroughly tested and is working perfectly. There is no system corruption or instability, and even the brightness of the unit has been checked and is functioning as expected."
So now waiting for the unit to be returned to me. However the most recent update states that it cannot be sent back to me due to a component shortage which is a bit weird - maybe its the packaging box or could it be something else?
For such an expensive piece of kit, which you just expect to work, I didn't sign up to spend so much time to trying to resolve a fundamental issue as others have said with this unit. Had I of read this thread beforehand it would have made me shop elsewhere, who knows the newer versions announced recently may have this issue resolved but that doesn't help anyone in the same boat as me.
The fundamental problem here is HP, who have core value issues when it comes to their customers.
