I Ned to know how to change the assignment for the Copilot key.  I have access to two Copilots:  The Windows Copilot and the Microsoft 365 Copilot.  The Key right now calls up the Microsoft 365 Copilot, and what I need is for it to give me the Windows 11 Copilot. How can I do that?

Hi @CWBillow3

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how important it is for the Copilot key on your HP Envy to open the Windows 11 Copilot instead of Microsoft 365 Copilot. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, and I appreciate the steps you’ve already taken to look into it.

Below are the clearest steps available within Windows to adjust this behavior. Since the Copilot key is controlled by Windows, the changes are made through Windows settings rather than HP utilities.

How to change the Copilot key behavior in Windows 11

1. Check Windows Keyboard Settings

Windows 11 includes a setting that determines which Copilot experience the system launches.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Personalization.
  3. Choose Taskbar.
  4. Scroll to Copilot.
  5. Ensure Windows Copilot is enabled.
  6. Restart the PC and test the Copilot key.

If the key still opens Microsoft 365 Copilot, continue with the next steps.

2. Verify the Default Copilot Experience

Some systems allow switching between the two Copilot experiences depending on your Microsoft account and app configuration.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. Select Default apps.
  4. Search for Copilot.
  5. If multiple Copilot-related entries appear, set Windows Copilot as the default where applicable.

3. Check the Microsoft 365 App Behavior

If Microsoft 365 Copilot is set to intercept the key, adjusting its startup behavior can help.

  1. Open any Microsoft 365 app (Word, Excel, etc.).
  2. Go to File.
  3. Select Options.
  4. Look for any Copilot-related shortcuts or integrations and disable automatic activation if available.
  5. Restart the PC and test the key again.

4. Restart the System

After making any of the above changes, restart the PC to ensure the new assignment takes effect.
