I have Windows 7 Service Pack 3 working fine on my Pavilion zv5000 series laptop. Under Device Manager, I have listed (2) Devices which are not working properly:
- Base System Device
- SM Bus Controller
Checking to see if anyone knows where I can get a set of drivers for the legacy Pavilion zv5000 series laptops.
Thanks so much for everyone's help

You're very welcome.
I didn't expect to find that your notebook has an AMD chipset and not an Intel one, yet it has an Intel processor.
I have zipped up and attached the driver you need below.
You will need to manually install the driver as follows...
Download and unzip the file to its folder.
Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager. Click on the smbus controller needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC,

Hi:
That model only has drivers for XP.
See if the XP driver works for the Base system device (SD card reader).
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp29501-30000/sp29788.exe
See if the XP chipset driver works for the smbus controller.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp27501-28000/sp27532.exe

Paul,
I appreciate your quick response. 50% of your suggestion worked successfully.
1. I was able to use your suggested XP driver for the Base system device and now that Driver error has gone; used sp29788.exe
2. However, the XP chipset driver did not take for the SM Bus controller issue; used sp27532.exe
Regarding
Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility
Version: 5.1.0.1008
get Information error:
The Intel (R) Chipset Software Installation Utility requires a supported chipset platform running on a supported operation system. Check the System Requirements section of the README.TXT file for more information.
my Pavilion Windows XP Professional is running at 32-bit. Is it possible that I need to pick another Chipset Software Installation Utility? just an idea.
