After what appears to be a successful Chrome download and install, the screen is dark and there is no data. When I attempt to display icons or "sign in" I get a blank pop up screen. It will not load webpages (that I can see).
The HP Notebook installs and displays IE, Firefox correctly on Win10 and Linux. Chrome works well on my other laptop (ASUS) or PC in both Win10 and Linux. Chrome works on the HP laptop in Linux.
The combination of Chrome/HP Laptop/Win10 produces the above problem.
The HP laptop successfully runs Google Drive and the Google Docs/Sheets/Slides in Win10. But not Chrome.
I've installed, removed, rebooted, reinstalled, etc. at least a dozen times using both online and offline installers. Same results.
I contacted HP Support (chat) and they essentially told me to go pound sand ... "do not support 3rd party apps - talk to Google Support." I talked to Google Support and they said it was an HP problem. I spend an hour (online remote) with AVG and they concluded it was an HP problem.
Now I am stuck.

Hi,
There are a couple things I would like you to try.
- Try the chrome canary edition and see if it runs on PC:
https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/canary.html
-Right-click on the desktop icon (shortcut) of the normal Chrome which does not work and click on properties. In the windows click on "Open file location" and change the chrome.exe to chrom.exe and create a new shortcut on desktop (right-click on it and sento > Desktop (shortcut). Now see if it works.
- Also try to perform an anti Malware scan which can sometimes conflict with Chrome. Use the free trial from Malwarebytes antimalware. Download, install, update , run scan , reboot computer, run, got quarantene and delete any threats found, reboot and uninstall Malwarebytes.
- Also run the antiadware program from Malwarebytes and see if it finds any adware which could b preventing Chrome from functioning correctly:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
Let me know if there is any change,
David
