My computer starts running very, very slowly. Can take 10 or more minutes to boot sometimes. Have done virus scans (Norton) and HP support assistant scans, but everything checks out. I have 12GB RAM.
Any pointers on what I should try next? Thank you.
I have also done the latest BIOS and driver updates.
Task manager shows high CPU up to 100% use and 100% disk use during slow periods.

Hi @GGY,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It can be incredibly frustrating to deal with such slow performance, especially when everything seems to check out. Let’s get to the bottom of this!
- Have you noticed if the slow performance happens right after booting up or persists throughout usage?
- Are there specific applications or processes in Task Manager consuming the most CPU or disk usage during these slow periods?
- Have you tried disabling unnecessary startup programs to see if that improves the boot time?
If your computer is slow after regular maintenance and updates, HP recommends testing your hardware to discover any issues and upgrading your hardware if necessary.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
