HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-g101dx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had to uninstall my Power Media Player.. now when I've downloaded the package from HP, it errors and won't let me reinstall.   The Error is "this software can only be installed on a Hewlett-Packard,HP system."   I've tried editing the control.ini in the install package w/ my PC name, but that doesn't help ...  any suggestions?     thanks!

Hi:

I do not believe that there is anything you can do to fix the problem.

I've had that happen to me too.

I can give you the installation file to the older Power Media 12 software which should work on your notebook, or you can use the free VLC Media player from the Microsoft Store.

VLC - Microsoft Store Apps

Power Media Player 12:

I have shared the link to my Skydive folder below.  Download, unzip and run the file labeled sp75514.zip.

that install seems to be doing the same thing - very irritating.  I did just download/install the VLD which seems to work at least.  thanks for the reply

You're very welcome.

That's interesting.

The only reason I gave you that link is because that file used to work on many different HP desktop and notebook PC's I have.

I don't use it anymore though.

Much easier to just download the free VLC media player and not have that 'PC not supported' error.

That's also happened to me with the Cyberlink Power2Go DVD burning software.

I've had to reinstall Windows and then when I went to reinstall the software from my PC's support page, I got the not supported error.

I just use the free CD Burner XP program now when I need to burn a CD or DVD.
