After several downloads of the Videoprogram: "Play Memories Home"- (PMH) from Sony's website, it is not possible, to open the program.
A fault-message pops on the screen: System fault of PMBVolumeWatcher.exe. PMB stands for Picture Motion Browser? And then it is mentioned: The program cannot start, because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-.1-1-0.dll is missing on this computer. New installations of the program, after removal of previous prg from the laptop does not bring any improvement, same effect again. The Videocamera is: Sony DV Camcorder Handycam, Model No: DCR-HC37E.
The computer is: HP Pavilion dv7-3150ed. Prodt No: WC161EA#ABH. Programma: Windows 7, HomePremium Edition, 64 bit.
Another problem is that the via several USB socket entries (2) the camera is not reconized by the computer. No USB Hub is used.
Connection to computer: Camera connected to loader, switched on while in Play/Edit mode. On connecting to computer a sound is heard.
On computer: No driving program available. Program: Microsoft Windows Continuous search for Updates is switched on. No Update received so far from MS. Several tune-up patches from Microsoft downloaded with no effect. I don't want to upgrade to Windows 10. It should be possible to let the program work on Windows 7.
I want to make videos, for burning to a DVD and that should be possible to my opinion. My HP Pavilion does not have a fire wire socket.
What is the problem here and how to overcome? Regards, JvV271

With a DV camera the only thing that works is a firewire connection. Your laptop IS old enough to have an Expresscard 54/34 slot and you can get an expresscard to firewire adapter. I have a couple around here I will likely never be able to use again but hard for me to send stuff to anyone.
Above is one of the ones I have. Use a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable and this adapter and you should be able to control the camera from the laptop. Windows Movie maker can be added to Windows 7 and will work as a very simple video editing program with a DV camera.

Dear Mr. Huffer,
Many thanks for your answer !! As a new member of the forum, your speedy answer is an eye opener for me, in order to be able to process my videos to DVD. I am an enthousiastic HP Pavilion user since 2000 and would like to share my experience so far, to the benefit of other forum members. Meanwhile I discovered a 1394-socket =
(4 pin) on the left side of my HP Pavilion dv7-3150ed, Prodt No: WC161EA#ABH. I think that when I have bought a new I-Link cable, things could work and become functional. As a "chemical man" I like to discover, why Windows cannot handle the job. I will, after some study, give my that idea for your comments. From now on, my motto is: " Don't fear,The HP Forum/ Huffer is here ! " So, I will keep you informed on the proceedings and meanwhile like to thank you, for your comments/ "eye opener" so far. Best regards from The Netherlands and have a Good day. JvV2711940.
