HP Spectre x360 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I'd like to connect an external monitor to my HP Spectre x360 13'' I purchased in May 2017.

Before I buy the USB C 3.1 to HDMI cable, I'd like to know if my laptop has DisplayPort Alternate mode.

How do I find out if it has? 🙂

Thanks in advance.

Hi @kpkp,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether there is an alternate mode to connect an external display other than display port.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Please let me know the exact model and the product number of your computer so that I can provide you accurate information.

Meanwhile, I would like to inform you that if you have a USB type C Thunderbolt 3 port on your computer then it does support the display and you can connect an external monitor using the port.

Below is the picture of USB type C port for your reference.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care.
