Spectre x360 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I recently got my computer back from repair, and it's all working great except the fingerprint sensor (on the right side) is not working at all. I'm quite sure this is a software issue--most of the time the option to use a fingerprint for sign-in doesn't even appear in Settings>Accounts, as it used to.

In the dialogue box that pops up when I go to the Device Manager and click Biometric Devices>Synaptics WBDI Fingerprint Reader - SPI 088, under the Events tab, I get the following message under Information:

"Device ACPI\SYNA8003\1 requires further installation."

I can't seem to find this driver anywhere. How can I solve this problem? Thanks.

Hi

Could you please expand on the

MAKE, MODEL, OS and SKU?

WinKey + R and type msinfo32 then look at line 9 for the SKU.

There are quite a few models that match.

Hi,

The model is the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13, model #: ae010ca. The OS is Windows 10 Home 10.0.17134, and the SKU is 2SP80UA#ABL. I already tried downloading and installing the fingerprint sensor driver from this webpage: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-spectre-13-ae000-x360-convertible-pc/16779579/mo..., and it didn't do anything.

I also tried running the software and devices troubleshooter in Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot. It identified the fingerprint sensor as having a driver issue, but what it did did not fix the problem. Now it is no longer identifying the issue. What next steps can I take?

Thanks

Hi

I hope your tolerant of me giving the same as you already tried...

Gives 62 HP products that have the same fingerprint sensor, and presumably the same driver.

I've tried every option you've listed, and I'm still not getting any response from the fingerprint sensor. Now, the option to set up a fingerprint does appear under "Sign-in options", but when I go to actually set it up, it still doesn't read my fingerprint.

When I look at the fingerprint sensor in the device manager, I still get this prompt about the ACPI software. Is there anyway to download this software independently? Does it even need to be downloaded, or might I find it somewhere just waiting to be installed?

Hi

I don't know, I was struggling to think of anything you hadn't already tried.

Sorry.
