Hi,
After windows 7 was installed on my pc, several devices don't work anymore and I found it's because of missing drivers.
I have an HP 250 G6 laptop with intel Celeron CPU N3060 @1.60 processor and windows 7 x 64.
My main problem is I don't have any access to networks or internet.
When I look into the device manager, the following items don't have drivers:
- Network controller
- PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller
- PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller
- SM Bus Controller
- Unknown Device (when I doubl-click, it says location on Microsoft ACPI-Compilant System)
- Unknown Device (idem)
I looked on the HP website, but the drivers for this PC are only for Windows 10. And I am not sure which ones I should download... Can anyone help me?
Thanks a lot!!
Joe

Hi, Joe:
Yes, unfortunately that is what happens with the 3168 AC and there is no way to turn on the wifi.
So, you will have to either stay on ethernet or use an external USB wifi adapter.
The other driver I got from that discussion I posted and since it worked for that one person, I assumed it would work for you too since it is the same model and the same processor.
See if this works...I took just the driver file out of that package, zipped it up and attached it below.
Unzip the file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager and click on the problem Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine device.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way.
If not, I guess you will have to live without that device working.
I really don't even know what it does other than what the driver description file states.

Hi
Sometimes there are no equivalent drivers, so can you specifically name the hardware please.
Is it an Intel or Realtek device?
Model number?
You may need to search the makers sites...

Hi, @joe002
You need these drivers for W7 x64...
SM Bus Controller: Install this driver first and restart the PC.
This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp87001-87500/sp87257.exe
PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller:
This package contains the driver that enables the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework firmware. Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework provide system temperature and power utilization information for the system thermal protection to function properly. This package is provided for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71001-71500/sp71262.exe
For the network controller and unknown devices, please post the hardware ID's for them so I can figure out what drivers they need.
Use this guide to find the hardware ID for a device.

I can tell you that if your notebook has the Intel 3168 AC wifi adapter, that will not work on W7, even though there are W7 drivers for it.
You can see this disussion below regarding that matter...

Dear CF4 and Paul ,
thanks a lot for your time and help.
@Paul_Tikkanen, I have followed your recommendations and have installed the 2 drivers you mentionned. Here is where I am standing now:
- I don't have any more Unknow Device in the list
- The PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller still doesn't have a driver. IDs are:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&SUBSYS_832C103C&REV_35
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&SUBSYS_832C103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&CC_108000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&CC_1080
- The network controlled IDs are:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24FB&SUBSYS_21108086&REV_10
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24FB&SUBSYS_21108086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24FB&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24FB&CC_0280
I don't know if that corresponds to the Intel 3168 AC wifi adapter...
Thanks a lot,
Joe

You're very welcome, Joe.
Yes, unfortunately the network controller's ID is for the Intel 3168 AC wifi adapter.
FWIW, here are the links to the wifi and bluetooth drivers you need.
This package contains drivers for the Intel Wireless LAN adapter in supported computer models that are running a supported operating system.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp87501-88000/sp87628.exe
This package contains the driver installation package for the Intel Bluetooth in the supported computer models running a supported operating systems.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp87501-88000/sp87906.exe
You need this driver for the PCI E/D Controller:
This package provides the Intel Trusted Execution Engine Interface (TXE) Driver for the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. The Intel Trusted Execution Engine Interface enables the Secure Boot and provides services required for platform security features such as Intel Platform Trust Technology (Intel PPT).

Thanks a lot Paul,
I have installed these drivers. For the network controller, it still says that the driver is not installed. Is that in relation to the fact that I have the Intel 3168 AC wifi adapter?
And what I understand from the other discussion about that adapter, is that there is no other way than purchasing an external wifi USB adapter or upgrade to W10 to have access to wifi ?
Another driver "issue" has appeared on my list. I am not sure what it is used for and if it is mandatory: Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine Interface. It says "This device cannot start. (Code 10). The IDs are the same as the PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&SUBSYS_832C103C&REV_35
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&SUBSYS_832C103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&CC_108000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2298&CC_1080
Again, thank you very much for your strong support, very helpful for someone who doesn't know anything about hardware issues!

You're very welcome, Joe.
See if the wifi driver directly from Intel works for the 3168 AC wifi adapter...1st one at the top left side of the webpage.
Unfortunately, I don't know why the W7 driver I posted didn't install the Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine Interface.
It should have. That is why the PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller name has gone away and replaced by the Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine Interface.
See if this driver works for that Intel Trusted Execution device instead.

So I tried these 2 drivers:
- the Intel wifi driver has been installed correctly and in the device manager, there is no more warning regarding a driver not being installed. And the icon on the left side of the taskbar has changed from a computer with a red cross to the "wifi bars" with a red cross. However, it says that there is no connections available, which is obviously false, otherwise I wouldn't be writing this email... And when I click on "troubleshoot", it asks me to use the switch on side of the computer (it doesn't have one) or the function keys to activate wifi. I am not sure what I am supposed to do here.
- the Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine driver cannot be installed. When I try, I have an error message: "The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are trying to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify it's integrity and try again". Is this driver a big deal? If it has minor interst, I can just live without it, can't I?
Thank you very much,
joe

OK, thanks for everything. I will purchase a wifi adapter or change to W10.
And regarding the Intel(R) Trusted Execution Engine, even the last driver you sent did not solve the problem. It still says This device cannot start. (Code 10). I will live without it.
Again, thank you very much and have a good day!
