HP ENVY m6-1182eg
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Device: HP ENVY m6-1182eg (Windows 7 64-bit)

Problem seems simple, but there are only win 8 drivers for my laptop model.

So I wonder, can I use them for win 7 also? If not, I would more than thankful for other solution!

And please, ik I could just install win 8... But I am great fan of win 7, would like to keep using it.

Thank you!

Other than BIOS you will be able to use the Windows 7 64 bit drivers from the dv6-7000 series here:

Post back with any more questions but please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

Hi, @Siniša

Only a few of the drivers that Huffer posted will work for your model.  Certainly the graphics won't.

Your model has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics.

You can find all of the W7 x64 drivers and software for your model from the m6t-1000 notebook.   Do not use the BIOS and firmware files.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-m6-1000-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/5259226/mo...

For the graphics, you only install the AMD graphics driver which contains the drivers for both the AMD and Intel GPU's.

I already installed network and keyboard, mouse and input devices drivers. Should I replace them with drivers from model you linked me, thought these which I installed seems to work fine (except now my mouse works but touchpad doesn't).

And thank you for your help @

You're very welcome.

If it were me, and since you are early on in the process, I would reinstall Windows and use the drivers from the m6t-1000.

Install the Intel chipset installation utility first and restart the PC.

Then install the amd/intel switchable graphics and restart the PC.

Then the audio, restart the PC.

Then install the ethernet driver.

Then you can install the rest of the drivers in any order you want.

This means you will have to put the drivers on a usb flash drive and install at least the 1st four from the flash drive.

The synaptics driver file version is different from the dv6-7000, and the one from the m6t-1000, which is basically exactly the same model as yours, but has W7 drivers.

I wonder, since I haven't done clean os install like this before, am I supposed to install everything from each tab of drivers (except ofcourse the ones you told me not to)? For example when you said to install Intel chipset first, you mean everything from Driver - Chipset tab or just the specific driver named Intel Chipset etc. And in global am I supposed to install literally everything from all tabs ( and again except specific ones you told me not to)?

Thanks for your time!

Hi:

Under the Driver - Chipset section you install all but one of the drivers listed there (I don't think you need the smart connect driver), but install the Intel chipset installation utility first, and restart the PC.

Under the Driver - Graphics, you only install the AMD graphics driver.

Under the Driver - Keyboard, mouse...Install both of them, unless your notebook does not have a fingerprint reader, then you just need the touchpad driver.

The Driver - network section is a bit more difficult.

You install the Realtek Local Area (LAN) driver but you only need to install the wireless driver for the model wifi adapter your notebook comes with.  It it also has bluetooth, then you install the model bluetooth driver for the model wifi adapter your notebook comes with.

Under the Driver - Storage section, you only need to install the Realtek Card Reader driver.

Under the Driver - Multimedia section, you install the software:

CyberLink PowerDVD 10 (2D/3D)

Cyberlink YouCam Software

If your notebook has an Intel wifi adapter, then you can install the 2 Intel software listings (wireless Display and wireless music).

Under the Driver - Security section, if your notebook has a fingerprint scanner, and you plan to use it, then install both the drivers listed there.

Under the Driver - Solutions section, those are all optional and you can install which ever ones you think would be helpful.  Read the descriptions of the software to figure that out.
