Did you try the drivers I had attached in my other reply.

There are only individual files in that folder.

There is no F6 folder.

If I’m not mistaken if it was labeled “Drivers” then yes I did and received the same error.

Yes, that was the one.

Sorry, but I have run out of ideas.

That stinks the cloud recovery tool media wouldn't work.

I've had that happen to me too, but I was always able to clean install Windows.

At the point is this laptop trashed?

After trying to find out what steps were taken it has come to light the the C drive was cleaned. And with that I’m assuming the OS went with it. I’m betting that is why the hard drive issues are happening with the drive not appearing. Is there a way to format this?

I have installed Windows on blank, cleaned, secure erased hard drives many times and never had a problem.

You can try to clean and format the drive within the W10 installation screen where W10 can't find the drive, and if Diskpart does not see the disk you can probably assume the drive is completely dead and, in that event, your friend may want to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a M.2 2280 NVMe SSD which uses a different drive controller.

  • 1. From inside Windows Setup, press Shift+F10 to open a command prompt window.
  • 2. Type diskpart and enter.
  • 3..Type list disk . (look for your disk number, check the size of the disk)
  • 4. Type select disk <disk number>. example: select disk0 (select the disk you want to format)
  • 5. Type clean.
  • 6. Type convert gpt.
  • 7. Close the command prompt window.

Below is the link to the service manual.

This was the thing that worked for me. Ended up being just a faulty drive. Switch for the SSD and it’s back to my friend and he’s happy. Thanks a ton!
