Elitebook 840 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've updated my PC to WIN10, previously WIN7 where everything worked as expected. Let me explain the issue.

PC has touchpad + touchstyk. Touchpad has left/right button on above and below touchpad itself.

After successful installation of WIN10 I also downloaded mouse driver for win10, which is in fact synaptics driver.

Now my top left/right buttons do not work anymore. I have realized that:

1. If synaptics driver is NOT installed, then top and bottom left/right buttons DO work and touchstyk also works, touchpad works but I cannot use gestures (no scroll, zoom), only mouse move

2. If synaptics driver IS installed, then I can do gestures on touchpad and bottom left/right buttons work. But top left/right buttons and touchstyk DO NOT work at all.

During the boot of CPU I have disk protection password to enter and I realized that during boot (before win starts) top left/right buttons DO work, so it must be something related to WIN10 + synaptics driver.

I also did a lot of digging on Google and few mentioned that I have to open mouse settings and disable touchstyk and reenable it back. I tried this, but it still does not work.

Since purpose of top buttons is mainly to be used in conjunction with touchstyk, is there any relation why either they both work or both don't?

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Which Win10 version are you using : 1903, 1809, .... ?

About Synaptic driver , which HP  softpaq spxxxxx.exe did you use ?

Which BIOS version is installed on your 840 G3 ?

I could check on my 840 G3 , in office , where I have Windows 10 installed and see if in my case I have the same issue or if everything works fine.

bye

Thanks for reply.

Win version: 1809 build 17763.557

Bios version: 1.39, HP N75, 4/16(2019 (it was updated prior installing win10, if this makes sense. Before was 1.06 if I recall well)

Synaptics driver: SP96965, synaptics mouse driver.

In the meantime I uninstalled it and installed 91562 and it works as expected again!

On HP site it is listed under Windows7 driver.
