Subject: Request to Enable Resizable BAR / Smart Access Memory (SAM) in BIOS – Victus by HP 16-e0xxx

Hello HP Support,

I own a Victus by HP Laptop 16-e0xxx,

My system has an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor and a dedicated AMD Radeon GPU. AMD’s Adrenalin software detects that Smart Access Memory (SAM) is supported but tells me that I need to enable Resizable BAR in BIOS.

However, the BIOS on this system does not show any option to enable Resizable BAR or Above 4G Decoding, and the advanced BIOS settings appear to be locked.

Since both my CPU and GPU support SAM, I would like to know if there is a way to safely enable Resizable BAR on this laptop model.

SAM would significantly improve performance in supported games and workloads, and I would greatly appreciate HP’s assistance in making this available.

Thank you in advance.

@Rithu777, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Based on your query regarding the Victus by HP Laptop 16-e0xxx, it seems you're trying to enable Resizable BAR, which is a feature that allows the CPU to have full access to the GPU memory, improving performance in games and GPU-intensive applications. This requires enabling Resizable BAR in the BIOS along with Above 4G Decoding.

For the Victus by HP laptops, such BIOS settings might indeed be restricted or not visible in the standard BIOS interface for safety and stability reasons.

BIOS Update: Ensure that your BIOS is updated to the latest version provided by HP. Sometimes, new updates include additional features or settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
