ENVY x360 - m6-w102dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Yesterday, 5-31-2017, Microsoft performed it's updates in it's usual manner. Since then, the following message is displayed at start-up: "AccelerometerSt.exe - System Error

The code execution cannot proceed because accelerometerdll.DLL was not found.  Reinstalling the program may fix this problem".

The question: Is there a driver or executable file available that will "fix" this problem?

Thank you

Hi,

Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry for HP 3D DriveGuard and select Uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, download and install the version of HP 3D DriveGuard on the following link.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78033.exe

Hi David - Thanks for the reply

I found SP71811.exe (ver6.0.28.1 revA) under HP drivers-DriveGuard, listed for my model. Is the file you're recommending a newer, more correct version?

I tried the method described in this post, however it never worked; I've read some faced this behaviour after upgrading to Win10 however I was already in Win 10 :s , anyway the way I solved this is via the following:

Since the log I was getting said that the file "accelerometerdll.DLL was not found" I just tried to search it and found it in the following path: C:\Windows.old\windows\System32 then I just copied it to the path: C:\Windows\System32 and reloaded the laptop and I don't get the message anymore.

I hope this solution help others.

jlma81 you're a star. I too tried the previous method of re installing 3D driver but got same error message. Tried your method (well my son did it for me) and no more error message. 😀

I have tried the fix, it does not work.  Is there any other help?
