HP Probook 440 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. Got a problem - the FN key doesn't work properly.

I mean primary functions of F-keys (F5, F6 etc.) don't work as default, but as secondary (like with pressed FN key)

I didn't find any options in my BIOS which can adjust it

HP specialist says - this notebook is quite new,

Therefore there is no option in BIOS to switch FN key to enable/disable mode.

Has somebody come up with it?

Hi,

You should be able to use Fn+SHIFT to turn on and lock the Fn key

However if you take a look at this thread where @TryToDoMybest shows that the latest BIOS seems to eliminate this possibility.

Hope it helps,

Thank a lot, man!

It works!

The problem was definitely inside the BIOS, the newest version 01.03.00 is sucks!

Overloaded it by previous version 01.01.01.

Now have a totally working function of switching FN key.

God bless you! ))

Unfortunately, we have the same problem - but downgrade is not possible for us.

We have here HP Probook 450 G6. It came with BIOS version 1.2.xx (xx was for sure not 00, but I don't remember exact number). After upgrade to 1.3.00 FN LOCK stopped working.

So we decided to downgrade BIOS. On support site is available only 1.1.00 and 1.2.00 for downgrade.
Because 1.2.00 was closest match to our original 1.2xx - we choose that.

After BIOS downgrade, Windows 10 IS UNABLE TO BOOT. It freeze on HP logo screen with Windows 10 dots.

Windows will boot only in SAFE mode. Even Windows setup will not boot.

So downgrade is not possible for us. We are often using Fxx keys, so working FN LOCK is a must.

HP, we need fix ASAP!

NOT SOLVED!

I have the same problem - after the update bios on 01.03.00 - Fn Lock does not work
when rolling back bios to 01.02.00 - the operating system does not load

Hi,

There is not much I can help with, I have mentioned it to the internal HP support team. I guess you will need to wait until new BIOS is released.

David
