Hi @Nadeera21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with setting up the fingerprint scanner on your HP laptop, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot the problem.

Check for Software Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Update" and check for updates.

Verify Biometric Settings:

  • Ensure that biometrics are enabled. Go to "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Sign-in options" and check if the fingerprint option is active.

Update Fingerprint Driver:

  • Go to "Device Manager."
  • Find "Biometric devices" and expand it.
  • Right-click on your fingerprint scanner and select "Update driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

Reset Fingerprint Setup:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Sign-in options."
  • Remove the existing fingerprint setup by selecting "Remove."
  • Retry setting up the fingerprint again by selecting "Add."

Run Troubleshooter:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
  • Find and run the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter.

Check HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant to check for specific driver updates or troubleshooting steps for your laptop model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
