Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have a hp Folio 9470m with windows 10 64bit. I can't manage to find the driver for Brightness control on official site.

I found indeed on a 3-rd party websites some drivers but I'm afraid to download and install.

Can someone help me with this driver?

Thank you and have a nice day!

Alec

Hi, Alec:

There used to be a W10 Hotkey support driver on your notebook's support page, but HP removed it a few years ago, and it is no longer available from HP--not even on their FTP site.

Fortunately, I saved the file a long time ago and I zipped it up and uploaded the file to my Skydrive folder which I share the link with to other forum members who need this file.

Hopefully, it will work for your notebook.

Here is the link to my Skydrive folder.

Download, unzip and run the file labeled sp71790.zip

Hi Paul,

I came back with one question. The driver indeed works just fine, but I have checked it on virustotal and it has one find. What do you think? Compared to the rest of drivers I have from hp also the signature and app icon looks a little bit different. Should I worry?

Thanks!

Hi:

Unfortunately, I would not know the answer to that question.

Some A/V programs pick up info in drivers that appears to be malware, even though the driver came from HP.

I scanned both the exe file with Windows defender, and then used 7-zip to extract the exe file into its driver folder.

I then scanned the file folder again and found no malware.

I then manually explored the files in the folder created by 7-zip and found nothing unusual.

You can take a look in the file yourself and see if you find anything unusual.

Use 7-Zip to extract the exe file into its folder.

Hi Paul,

Thanks again, I have scanned with multiple anti-viruses and looks good.
