At power on, get a message stating no boot device available, please install an OS.
Is it possible to install a new HD? If so, how do I get Windows OS?
Battery is also failing. Is it worth it to replace both, or should I just buy a new laptop (like a MacBook)?

You can replace the hard drive and battery on your HP laptop. Here's a detailed guide on how to approach this:
Steps to Replace the Hard Drive:
- Shut Down: Properly shut down your laptop.
- Unplug and Disconnect: Remove the power cable and all connected peripherals.
- Open Access Panel: Depending on your HP laptop model, you may have an access panel for the hard drive. Typically, you will need a screwdriver to remove these panels.
- Remove the Old Hard Drive: Once inside, locate the hard drive and carefully disconnect it, then remove it.
- Install the New Hard Drive: Insert the new hard drive into the same slot and connect it as the old one.
Installing Windows OS:
After replacing the hard drive, you'll need to install Windows OS. Here’s how:
- Create a Bootable USB Drive: You can download the Windows ISO file from the official Microsoft website and use tools like Rufus to create a bootable USB drive.
- Insert USB Drive: Insert the bootable USB drive into your laptop.
- Boot from USB:
- Access Boot Menu: As you power on your laptop, press the key to enter the boot menu (usually F12, F10, or ESC).
- Select USB Drive: Choose the USB drive as your boot device.
