Hello,

Although Windows Media Player works fine, the MediaSmart Live TV gives me the message the TV Tuner Card is not detected. I don't own an actual TV so sometimes I used the MediaSmart which got a lot more channels that Windows Media Center. I'm wondering why the MediaSmart is not detecting the TV card.

If you can give me some info or help me fix this issue I'd be grateful.

Thanks for taking time to read this, Shane in NYC

Hi David,

I did all these things & found the file in services wich was set correctly only to realize it is not the Windows Media Center that's not working, it's the HP MediaSmart Live TV which is not detecting the TV Tuner. I can't find MediaSmart anywhere on the web to contact them or any download on the HP site to get the TV tuner detected by HP MediaSmart Live TV. Do you know how to contact MediaSmart, phone number or website?

The TV card came preinstalled. I am not sure if it's analog but I think it might be because it sort of connects with a very touchy antena which has never fit properly, the antena connector is too small for the input hole in the computer so it's always iffy.

Do I recall something about HP MediaSmart no longer working or something like that a few years back? Fuzzy memory....

Thank you for trying to help. I appreciate your effort. Who knows, maybe it will yet be fixed ~

Grateful for you help, Shane in NYC

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've gone to the HP website to try to find the manual but it is not there. I've looked at the user guide and there does not appear to be any way to update the MediaSmart player. The windows Media Player works fine and locates the TV tuner. It is the HP MediaSmart program that does not locate the TV tuner. The HP mediasmart program got a lot of TV stations Through The Ether. The Windows Media Center gets only two channels due to reception. So what I am trying to fix is to get the HP MediaSmart player to locate the TV tuner so I can have more than two TV stations.

So you understand my computer came with one TV card that worked with two TV programs. The Windows Media Center which works fine but only receives two channels on the TV function and the HP mediasmart which does not find the TV tuner.

Before you can use MediaSmart in live TV mode, you must set up the TV tuner for your computer using the instructions in the printed User Guide included with your computer or to www.hp.com, see support and troubleshooting information.
Enter your Product name and number, click you model number from the list supplied, select Manuals, Multimedia - Windows Vista.

I hope I understood it explained my issue clearly. If you can help me try to locate the TV tuner for the media smart player I would be grateful. It is the HP mediasmart that gets the message no TV tuner detected.

Thank you again 4 trying to help me figure this out. I am very grateful for your effort.

Kind regards, Shane
