HP Notebook - 15-dw1083wm
Microsoft Windows 11

hey everyone needing a little help..

I just recently updated my laptop to Windows 11 i use mainly for schoolwork, most off the apps needed for school are not accessible in S Mode in the Microsoft store.  When I try to go to switch out of S mode it gives me thew option to click on the "get" button then says "Working On it" but doesn't do anything after that. I've tried to do it several times now and keep getting the same issue. I have made sure my laptop meets all requirements and that everything is up to date. Someone please help me.

Hi @TiffaniC,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear you, and I can imagine how frustrating it must be when you're just trying to get your schoolwork done and your laptop throws a wrench in the plan. You're not alone in this, and I’m here to help you get back on track.

You're using the HP Notebook - 15-dw1083wm and recently upgraded to Windows 11 in S Mode, which is designed for security and performance, but yes, it can feel limiting when essential apps for school aren’t available outside the Microsoft Store.

Here's how to switch out of S Mode:

  1. Connect to the Internet: Make sure your laptop is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. S Mode requires online access to switch.

  2. Open Settings:
    • Click the Start MenuSettingsSystemActivation.

  3. Find the “Switch out of S Mode” option:
    • Under Switch to Windows 11 Home, click Go to the Store.

  4. In the Microsoft Store:
    • You should see a page titled Switch out of S Mode.
    • Click the Get button.

  5. If it says “Working on it” and freezes:
    • Try restarting your laptop and repeating the steps.
    • Clear the Microsoft Store cache:
      • Press Windows + R, type wsreset.exe, and hit Enter.
      • This will refresh the Store and may fix the issue.

  6. Still stuck? Try signing out and back into the Microsoft Store:
    • Open the Store → Click your profile icon → Sign out.
    • Restart your laptop, then sign back in and try again.

  7. Check for Windows Updates:
    • Go to SettingsWindows UpdateCheck for updates.
    • Install any pending updates and restart.

If none of these work, don’t worry, you can reach out to the Microsoft Store team for deeper help.
