I'm at a loss. No net change. I performed the restore, set a restore point, and WU started bringing in a bunch of updates... KB4019472 failed again -- it's the same exception as before --- same hash mismatch on the same component.

@undefined, It's great to hear from you again.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

You can try the solution recommended below.

Go to the following location

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

and delete everything within the folder, but do not delete the folder itself. To do so, press CTRL + A to select everything and then press Delete to remove the files. Restart and download updates again.

If the issue still persists try performing a complete system recovery on your PC and let me know the results.

Refer this article to know how to perform system recovery on your PC.

I'll watch your reply!

Take Care! 🙂

Hey there, Mr. Robot --

I've not been able to get back to this since your last reply. I'll try your suggestion and report results.

I'd been shopping around for a good price on a company to use to reload the entire notebook (because I didn't want to deal with it) when the July update came along... and that installed successfully!

Whatever the problem was with that May update, the June update failed to correct... but the July update did the job. The laptop is now showing up to date.

Thanks for all the patience and ideas.
