HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c0000 (2W0J6AV)

Hello,

I recently purchased a G5 docking station with the help on an HP sales rep, who ensured my laptop is compatible with this dock. I just received it and connected my laptop to it, and my computer recognizes the device but will not charge or extend displays through the dock. I have updated/installed drivers, including Bios, and still nothing. I get a message that says "Display connection might be limited." I have gone through the self-help options from HP for that message already. The issue still lingers.

I also have a work laptop, an HP Zbook, that connected immediately and had no issues charging or extending displays through the G5.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your machine could be one of the following over 70 machines

             https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/product-specs/hp-17.3-inch-laptop-pc-17-c0000/model/2100371458

 They have SAME ports

  • 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate;
  • 2 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate;
  • 1 HDMI 1.4b;
  • 1 AC smart pin;
  • 1 headphone/microphone combo

It have a hopeless USB-C port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

It is NOT compatible with HP USB-C G5. Full stop.

Your HP zBook has different USB-C port(s).

Regards.
