It worked eventually, i think maybe there are some problems with the website...?!
One last question, hopefully: some of the drivers seem to do the exact same thing, or maybe the differences are too technical for me to recognize. If so, which ones are best recommended to install? Thank you.

Sorry but the driver support site has been up and down for the last 2 weeks. (New year new changes???)
I would use all the HP drivers first.
https://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID
You can use that to find the HW/ID and choose the driver for that HW/ID.
If you need any help just let us know.

Thanks, this one is good to know for sure.
But it seems that now i have a more serious issue: i've used the updater for BIOS (it said there it's strongly recommended) and the laptop doesn't boot anymore. After installing the update it said it needs to reboot for the change to take effect and... black sceen since then. Processor is working because i can sense the air blowing from the fan, and the small light light on the CAPS LOCK is flashing, but that's it.

Never mind, i did it using the information from this link https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01732674
My question now is: did the BIOS updated or not? I cant seem to find the info on this at the moment. Bios version show F.18 - is that the newest?

Never mind that also, i found out in the meantime that it wasnt and i managed to update to F.33 without problems this time, i wonder what the problem was the 1st time, but that's less important now.
But i do have an important question that i hope you can help me with: can i enable Speed Shift Technology for Windows 7? I red somewhere that that's possible with new versions of BIOS?
