Hello Folks,
I wanted to upgrade my HP 2560p WIN 10 machine to a SSD. I bought a Samsung SSD (860 EVO) 1TB last week. When i tried to connect the SSD to my laptop via a USB3.0 SATA cable, i kept getting this error that the "USB device is not recognised". I searched a lot of forums but could not find a solution. I finally came across this HP support forum, so i thought i would post my issue here, in the hope that someone might be able to help out. Thank you in advance for looking into my request.
While I was digging through device manager, i also noticed a few more missing drivers which are visible in the screenshot. Any help with them is also appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Projit

Hi:
Your notebook is not supported by HP for W10, so there are no W10 drivers for the devices you listed.
You need to use the W8.1 drivers for the devices needing drivers...
Mobile Broadband device...try manually installing the driver if the auto install doesn't work.

USB\VID_138A&PID_003C: You need this driver. Manually install the driver if the auto install doesn't work.

ACPI\HPQ0004:

I have no idea what the first one you show in the system devices catergory is.

Hi Paul,
First off, thank you. I appreciate you spending your time and efforts in responding to all our queries on this forum. It is the reason why I had posted my query in this forum in the first instance in the hope that you might have a look at it. So thank you again.
I tried to install the drivers from your link below. #2 (USB\VID_138A&PID_003C) & #3 (ACPI\HPQ0004:) worked but i am still having trouble with #1 (Mobile Broadband device). I tried auto install and manually installing it and it keeps giving me the same error.
Have attached new screenshots below.

Hi Paul,
Coming back to the first error that I pointed out was for the SSD, that I tried to connect to the HP 2560p via a cable (USB3.0 to 22 pins SATA). Since the SSD is a brand new one, I was advised to first connect it to the laptop via a cable. Once the laptop detects it, you use the disk manager to format it and assign it a drive. Once you assign it a drive, you can then use Samsung Disk Migration tool to clone your existing HDD into the new SDD. Which is my end objective.
So every time I connect the SSD to the Laptop USB Port, I get that error.

You're very welcome, Projit.
The WWAN adapter driver I gave you was the wrong one, which is why it didn't work.
This is the one you need...

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with the USB cable issue.
I don't clone drives. I clean install the OS, and reinstall my programs and files.

Hi Paul,
You certainly are a genius and an expert at this. Thank you for the new driver. It worked like a charm.
Regarding the last issue: Thank you for letting me know. I read up on a few forums and from the little that I could gather from them, I feel that the HP 2560p might be missing some USB drivers which is why the laptop is not able to detect the externally connected SSD.
Well, clean installing the OS on the SSD is the nuclear option I am hoping to save for as a last resort. The only issue here will be that i don't know if i will be able to Install Office 2016 (HUP) again on the new install. Hence I am hoping to get a cloning done.
Thanks again. Hope you have a nice day.
Cheers.

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
Any USB driver issues with Windows 8 - Windows 10 are hard to fix because there are no standalone USB drivers for those operating systems.
I have been unable to help anyone that has USB driver issues on W10, because I can't give them anything to work with.
Office 2016 HUP...yes you can reinstall it as long as you have the key, or you have your Microsoft Office account with the key stored there.
You can download it from the link below...
I made a DVD and wrote down the key and have reinstalled Office 2013, 2016 and 2019 HUP various times.
Never had an issue. Just had to use the Microsoft automated phone activation system if I transferred the program to a different PC.
You have a great day too!

Update: I finally managed to buy a USB 2.0 to 22 pin SATA cable from eBay and the laptop instantly detected the external SSD. So I managed to clone my HDD into my SSD and solved the problem.
For the rest of the Laptop drivers listed in my first post, please look at Paul's comments for the info.
