HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Ever since my GOT55AV updated to Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.540) (from Build 15063.483) on either Tuesday, 08/08/2017 or Wednesday, 08/09/2017, a Compatibility Assistant dialog box has shown up once the desktop appears. It basically says my current version of HP Accelerometer (6.0.28.1, installed Tuesday, 09/03/2015) is not compatible with the current version of Windows. Researching the issue on HP’s websites led me to two files. Not sure of which one (if either) to install, I downloaded both files. One of them (sp78033.exe) was from a link (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78033.exe) posted on a user forum page (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/AccelerometerSt-exe-HP-3D-Driv...) on 06/02/2017; the other (sp71811.exe, release date Wednesday, 07/29/2015) a customer support page (https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-15-k000-notebook-pc/6936206/model/7174348/document/c026....) After reviewing the release notes of the latter-mentioned file, I determined that version is already installed. How do I review the release notes of the sp78033.exe file?

Would any harm be done if I installed the file and later found out it’s the wrong one?

banhlen,

Thanks for the prompt response!

Should I uninstall the current version before installing the newest one?
