HP ENVY m7 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

As of the last update of Windows 10 (11-15-17), I get a dialog reading "HP Accelerator dosen't work on this version od Windows".

Has anyone found a fix for this ?

If so, I wonder if I might ask how you did it. (So, that I might do the same.)

Thanks

Thought I would chime in and offer what seemed to work for some posters in another thread.Perhaps it will work for you as well.

Intsall this version of 3D Driveguard:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp82001-82500/sp82228.exe

Restart the laptop and install the update:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp82501-83000/sp82755.exe

Restart again.

Hi:

Did you try the latest update HP released the other day?

https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c05841987

Hopefully that update will get rid of the error, but HP still needs to fix the 3D driveguard software package.

HP is aware that this is an incomplete fix.

Thanks for the quick response.

I DID. (I saw a reference to it in the forum.).

Unfortunatly, it didn't seem to resolve the issue.

If, HP 3D DriveGuard is already installed on hte notebook, running SP82755, dosen't fix the issue.

If, HP 3D DriveGuard is not installed on the notebook, then running SP82755 does NOT install it.

So, I'm a bit puzzled as to what SP82755 is suppsed to do.

The contents of SP82755 folder, when examined, looks to contain only a few objects, compared with the contents of other version I have downloaded from HP.

I wonder if a specific version of the HD 3D Driveguard needs to be installed on the notebook BEFORE running SP82755.

In any event, I still get the dialog.

Thanks so much for considering my issue.

You're very welcome.

Apparently,  sp82755 was supposed to get rid of the error, but it also gets rid of the software that is required to trigger the accelerometer.

That is why I mentioned that it is an incomplete fix.

For example:  I have a HP 350 G1 business-class notebook with the same accelerometer hardware.

But I put a solid state drive in mine, so the accelerometer is not needed to park the heads of the hard drive since a SSD doesn't have any moving parts.

I got the same error, so what I did was uninstall the 3D driveguard software in the programs menu, as well as uninstall the HP mobile data protection sensor, and driver in the system devices section of the device manager.

Restarted the PC and used 7-zip to just manually install the device so I didn't have any unknown devices showing up in my device manager.

You can refer to this post for what I did...

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/AccelerometerSt-exe-Error-Mess...

So, that is why I am saying this is an incomplete solution to the issue.

It should make any errors go away, but I don't think the accelerometer will work without the accompanying software to trigger it in the event the notebook is bumped or dropped.

If your luck is anything like mine, that failsafe program would never help me anyway, since I would be dropping the notebook from a lot higher than a foot or two.  LOL!

Goog "day after Thanksgiving" CherylG !

You're a genious.

Your suggested procedure worked perfectly.

The Device Manager \ System Devices \ HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor now has driver version 10.0.16299.15.

And, I no longer see that “HP Accelerometer doesn’t work on this version of Windows” dialog when my notebook starts up.

I can't thank you enough for your time and interest in my issue.

You're the greatest !

Well Ray that seemed to have worked. At least the message from Windows didn't pop up. Thank you.
