each time i turn my laptop on, it shows an error message saying this version of HP accelerometer is unsupported for this version of windows.

I believe that is not a fix, it removes the software and stops error message.
One day HP may post a real fix. I don't know the cost which HP is spending to fix problems from Windows updates.
I mentioned many times on few forums inclucding this forum: Microsoft and Apple, for the sake of customers, need to work out with all hardware vendors including HP before they release new updates.
But I believe TRADE SECRET could prevent them to do that.
