I am trying to update my bios from (f1.0) to the newest one on the hp drivers web site. when I download the update, I am asked to have a flash drive. I plug in the flash drive and it formats than the program installs the bios on to it. then it asks me to restart my computer and boot into the flash drive but that does not work. I dont know why and I have tried multiple times

I got it working... I guess there was something wrong with the flash drive that I was using or possibly the computer it self. Thank you for the help and the fast responses..

Hey there! @DiabloSlayer90, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that you have issues updating BIOS on your PC.

Don't worry I'd like to help.

Please try restoring the BIOS on your PC and then try updating the BIOS.

Try the steps recommended below to restore BIOS.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66501-67000/sp66863.exe

Follow these steps to recover an earlier version of the BIOS on your notebook:
Turn off the computer.
Plug the notebook into a power source using the power adapter.
With the computer off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time.
On newer notebook models, it might be necessary to press and hold the Windows logo key and the V key instead of the B key.
Still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows and B (or V) keys until the BIOS update screen is displayed or until you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).
The power LED light remains illuminated and the screen remains blank for about 40 seconds before anything appears on the display. You might also hear beeping sounds. Eventually, an HP BIOS Update screen displays and the BIOS update begins automatically.
After the BIOS is recovered, a Continue Startup button displays and a timer counts down. Click the Continue Startup button to restart the computer immediately. The computer restarts automatically when the timer reaches zero.
When the computer restarts, a message similar to the following displays: A system BIOS Recovery has occurred. BIOS Recovery (500) Enter – Continue.
Press the Enter key to continue immediately or to allow the computer to reboot automatically.
After restoring the BIOS, if the computer repeatedly displays a message that the BIOS has been recovered, perform the steps in the HP support document: HP BIOS Application Selected is Corrupt or Missing.
After restarting, Windows might display a message stating that the computer was improperly shut down or that a boot problem was detected. Read and respond to the screens to continue.

Refer this article for more information about restoring BIOS.

Once the BIOS restore is completed, Update the BIOS on your PC using this link.

Let me know if this works!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

@DiabloSlayer90, thanks for your response and time.

Go to BIOS under system configuration go to boot options.

Select USB drive from the list and make it to the top of the order by tapping F5/F6 keys.

Press F10 to save changes and exit.

Connect your flash drive and try booting again.

I'll watch your reply!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

That is what I have already tried multiple times? When I do that it just goes right back to booting windows 10... I really dont know what I am doing wrong

@DiabloSlayer90, thanks for your response and time.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

If the flash drive is not bootable then you cannot boot from the flash drive.

Try downloading Rufus software on your PC and make the flash drive bootable and check if it helps.

Also, try with a different flash drive and different USB port.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
