HP ENVY x360 13.3 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 13-bf0000 (552D6AV)

HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop 13-bf0002na
Product ID: P123EA#ABU

I recently upgraded the BIOS to F.33 and now the touchscreen and pen function does not work.

In Device Manager the Intel(R) Precise Touch and Stylus (Intel(R) PTS) - Base Driver - Port #1 is showing a yellow triangle with error

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE

I have attempted update, re-install, un-install but the same issue occurs.

More than this, the touchscreen does now not work before the operating system is loaded. When selecting esc and seeing the boot menu, there are the F keys on the screen plus you use to be able to select boot options etc but now the touchscreen doesn't work at this point.

Also I cannot now use the HP Cloud Recovery tool as the process fails during installation with a error message related to the touchscreen and stulus.

I need to be able to use the touchscreen and stylus so I am looking for a BIOS rollback but it isn't possible to do on this device.

Please help me with this issue.

@adwilliams2020, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your touchscreen and stylus stop working after a BIOS update. Let's try to resolve this issue step by step.

Steps to Troubleshoot Touchscreen and Stylus Issues

BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the Esc key repeatedly as it boots up, then select F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Look for any settings related to the touchscreen or input devices. Ensure they are enabled.
  • Save changes and exit.

Update Drivers from HP Support:

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your product ID and download the latest drivers for your device, especially the touch and stylus drivers.
  • Install the downloaded drivers and restart your laptop.

Reinstall Touchscreen Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Locate Human Interface Devices and find Intel(R) Precise Touch and Stylus.
  • Right-click on it and select Uninstall device. Make sure to check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device" if prompted.
  • After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, driver updates are included in Windows updates.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

BIOS Rollback (If Available)

If the issue started after BIOS F.33, rolling back may help.

Try this:

  • Download the previous BIOS version (e.g., F.32 or earlier) from the HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Use the HP BIOS Recovery Tool:
    • Create a recovery USB using another PC: HP BIOS Recovery Instructions
    • Insert the USB into your affected laptop.
    • Hold Win + B, then press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds.
    • Release the power button but keep holding Win + B until the BIOS recovery screen appears.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
