HP ENVY x360 - 15-bp101na
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,
I've got a problem with my Envy x360 15-bp101na laptop. The HID drivers make the system stay in tablet mode disabling the keyboard completely. The keyboard works when i press esc before startup. I tried removing drivers, installing different ones, i managed to get the desktop mode but without the ability to change between tablet/desktop mode.
I suspect that the problem might be the sensor not starting, in device manager the HID Sensor Collection V2 throws:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Failed to initialize sensor from HID collection descriptor"

My Windows version is Windows 11 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3880)
What i tried:

  • restarting multiple times
  • disabling HID sensors in device manager
  • Manually installing both the kaby lake and standard version of integrated sensor drivers

Unfortunately i can't restore system because i don't have any checkpoints

Any suggestions before i try a clean install? Maybe there's a driver for win11 (hp support only lets me select win10)

Okay, after further testing i found out that the Intel Integrated Sensor Solution is the culprit, after completely uninstalling the driver the desktop mode works fine. I've tried several versions of said driver but all of them just make the notebook always stay in tablet mode.

Are there any troubleshooting steps i could try or maybe it's possible that it's a hardware issue?

Hi @mnawiesniak,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your Laptop that is not switching from tablet mode to desktop mode.

Please follow the steps below to perform an extensive system test to confirm if the hardware is working fine.

1) Shut down the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to the system test > extensive test

If the hardware is working fine. Kindly refer to the steps on this link to perform a recovery and let me know if that resolves the issue. (Take a backup of the data before performing a recovery)

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

Hello, thanks for the reply

Unfortunately when i enter system test, only options present are Memory test, Hard Drive test and Language

Is there any other way i could check if the hardware sensor works fine? My BIOS is up to date so I'm not sure why the option is missing

I'd rather keep the clean system install option as a last resort (that's what the recovery method seem to be)

Okay, i've done some tests using Microsoft's SensorExplorer and it seems that no sensor shows any values other than SimpleOrientationSensor(which always reports NotRotated no matter the actual device rotation).

To make sure everything's right, i made sure Rotation Lock is disabled and registry values in AutoRotation are as follows:
- Enable - 1
- LastOrientation - 0

- SensorPresent - 1

- SlateEnable - 1
