After a recent Windows update I have lost the use of my mouse.

On examining have found that I have lost my universal serial bus controllers for my Intel chip.

Any ideas as how I can get these back and install them to make my usb ports work please?

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to install the W8 Intel chipset driver and hope that gets the USB ports to work.

Restart the PC after installing the driver.

A brilliant answer to my problem.

Did as you suggested and downloaded the W8 version, installed it and restarted my laptop and BINGO!

Great advice and should be made more widely know if Windows updates are apparently causing things to disappear?

Many thanks again for a great response.
