HP 15-F272wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Had to do a factory reset on an older HP 15-F272wm laptop. Back up to Win10 22H2, all updates applied, all driver updates via HP Support Assistant applied, everything up to do.

CD/DVD drive (GUD1N) is in device manager, works, but Windows will not detect CD / DVD insertions / ejects.  For example, if I put an audio CD in, nothing happens. I have to open File Explorer for it to then realize there's a CD in there.  The the autoplay stuff starts.  If I eject the audio CD, File Explorer still shows the name of the audio CD even though it's not in there anymore. Hitting 'refresh' doesn't help. It's not until I close File Explorer and reopen it that it sees the CD drive is empty.  Again, if I put a DVD in, unless I open File Explorer, Windows doesn't know the DVD has been inserted.  I can actually remove it, File Explorer still shows its there, and even insert and audio CD, and File Explorer still shows the DVD (title and all) is in there (even though it's out and an audio CD has been put in).

I have changed some settings in File Explorer (hide empty drives, don't hide empty drives, etc.), I've uninstalled the optical drive in Device Manager, let it reinstall it, physically removed the drive, put it back in, nothing seems to fix this issue.  Driving me nuts.

Anyone else have this experience and know how to fix it?

Thanks.
