Hey, I have an HP Omen 15 notebook.
I want to change the color of the backlit keyboard and speakers. Also the power button and the speaker mute button. They are all red, and I want to change their color and also turn them off completely while the pc is on.
I tried to download HP gaming center, but it said my laptop is incompatible (too old.) I also tried downloading the old hp command center, but when I changed the color using that, it never actually changed the colors.
If there's a way to just turn them off that would be great too. Pressing fn + f5 turns off the keyboard lights, but it doesn't turn off the speaker and other lights.
Thanks

Hi @Roy12341, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP OMEN 15-5113dx doesn't support the newer versions of OMEN Gaming Hub or HP Command Center, which is why you're facing compatibility issues when trying to change the keyboard and speaker lighting.
Here are some of the possible solutions,
Try OMEN Control (Older Software)
Since your laptop is an older OMEN model, it likely used OMEN Control software for lighting customization. You can try downloading and installing it:
- Download OMEN Control from HP’s website or search for "OMEN Control Software" online.
- Once installed, check if it allows you to change or disable the keyboard and speaker lights.
Check BIOS for Lighting Options
Some HP OMEN laptops have an option in the BIOS to disable lighting:
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (press F10 repeatedly on boot).
- Look for “Advanced” or “Lighting” settings.
- If an option to disable the lights is available, disable them and save changes.
Manual Hardware Solution (Last Resort)
If there's no software-based method available, you could physically disconnect the lighting cables for the power button and speakers (but this would require opening up your laptop).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
