I bought a new HP OMEN (OMEN by HP Laptop 17-an0xx).
On the first time boot up, the setup process was slow. While setting up, the computer asked me to type in my email. I clicked on the line to enter email, it takes approximately 3-5 seconds to register I clicked on the box.
After the setup process is finished, I restarted the computer multiple times, and the disk usage is still close to 100% ten minutes after startup. The task manager even froze for a few seconds.
I have not used a computer without SSD, so I am not sure if this is normal for a computer with HHD. Any suggestions on how to bring the disk usage down?
PS. This is a new laptop, therefore nothing other than the pre-installed software was on it.
Thank you!

As this is brand new notebook just completed setup, I suspect Windows updates (feature update) are getting download and installed in the background.
This is the usual reason for maximum disk usage after initial setup.
Wait for 1-2 depending upon the speed of internet and because machine has HDD instead of SSD, for it to complete all the updates and installations.
See which process take maximum disk usage from task manager.

So according to your case, I think you may as well try to update the SSD firmware to see if works.
If not, could you give me your how your disk usage like in task manager?
