I was trying to UPDATE my HP Envy x360's HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI software today.  On the download page, the button appears to point to an INVALID FILENAME for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI – v10.8.4.0.

The filename the Download button points to is sp167305.exe, but clicking the Download button says, "Not found"!  The CORRECT filename APPEARS TO BE, sp167302.exe.  If that is correct, then that might be why people can't find the correct software!  I discovered that POSSIBLE ERROR by downloading files starting with sp167300 (since it's an ftp site).

When I downloaded sp167302, I discovered the File Description is called, "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI"!  At that point, I did not search or download further.  For the time being, I DELETED sp167302 from my machine, pending your investigation into the filename...

That said, I did NOT install that file, since I do not know 100% if that sp167302 is the CORRECT FILE for my HP Envy x360.  Instead, the Download button NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED (maybe), so that it points to the correct software!  Can someone at HP please take care of that issue??  It would be much appreciated.  (My HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI keeps telling me I'm out of date, and I'd like to get updated.)  Thanks very much!!

@EnmaAi,

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI – v10.8.4.0_sp167305

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp167001-167500/sp167305.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp167001-167500/sp167305.exe

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI – v10.8.4.0_sp167302

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp167001-167500/sp167302.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp167001-167500/sp167302.exe

See the above release notes for sp167305 and 167302. They are almost identical except for sp167302 release notes having a list of supported devices and Windows 11 added to the supported OSes, but sp167305 notes say that sp167305 supports W11 too.

Hello, @Tk_srq and thanks for the clarification!  Out of curiousity, was the info I provided you with in my previous post of any help in figuring it all out?

I notice something interesting, but I suspect it might be of no consequence.  The Release Notes for 167305 do mention Windows 11 in the Title.  However, there is no mention of Windows 11 in the Operating System(s).

On the other hand, the Release Notes for 167302 do NOT mention Windows 11 in the Title; but DOES include seven Windows 11 versions in the Operating System(s)!

That's interesting; but is that detail even important?  (I'm asking mostly since 167305 does mention Windows 11 in the Title; but not in the Operating System(s).  I'm just hoping that wouldn't result in any confusion for others who might download the newer software.  Also, it makes it "look like" the OLDER version ISN'T supported by Windows 11, insofar as Windows 11 isn't mentioned in 167302's Title.)  I hope that makes sense...none of this was easy for this old man to write...  👴

That said, based on your reply; if there is no significant difference in FUNCTIONALITY between 167302 and 167305, I'll just live with the "out of date" message and keep 167302...  Rationale--no point in risking a failed installation, if the functionality is the same.

Thank you, very much, for your help!  E.A.

Yes, the information in your original post was helpful otherwise, I wouldn't know the sp167302 file exists.

I right clicked the 'Download' button and then clicked 'Copy link' to find the update file was sp167305. Obviously, the link is broken.

I believe the official v10.8.4.0 file is sp167305, as the sp167302 is hidden.

If you already installed sp167302, you wouldn't need to update to sp167305, as they are practically no different from each other. HP periodically updates the Diagnostic UEFI. You can just wait for a newer version to get rid of the 'out of date' message.

Interestingly, release notes for update sp files are not readily available to public, unless you create a link from ftp site.

HP needs to fix the broken link, and it would be nice if they add a link to release notes for update sp files.

@Tk_srq, thank you very much, again.  Yes, that does seem odd; I wonder why HP didn't put them together, as a package?  I think that's possible, but I don't know how it's done.  I think it would have to be a ZIP file, or something like that.  Anyway, Thank You once more!  Your help was appreciated!
