Dear HP Support,

I am experiencing a persistent boot problem with my HP Pavilion 15-ab188ca. Initially, I encountered a black screen during boot. Following guidance, I performed a manual BIOS reset using a flash drive. After this reset, I am now stuck on a TPM prompt screen that does not allow me to proceed. I have tried using an external keyboard, power cycling, and even re-entering the BIOS, but no keys (F1, F2, etc.) respond, and the system still fails to boot or allow OS installation.

Please assist me in resolving this issue.

Hi @TooKool,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion 15-ab188ca stuck on a TPM prompt after a BIOS reset. Let’s go through a few checks.

Perform a Full Power Reset

Turn the laptop off.

Disconnect the charger.

Remove the battery if removable.

Press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds.

Reconnect the battery and charger, then power on the laptop.

Respond to the TPM Reset Prompt

Turn the laptop on.

When the TPM message appears, press the F1 key once to accept the TPM change.

If the built-in keyboard does not respond, connect a USB keyboard and try again.

Restart the laptop after the prompt clears.

Note: TPM prompts commonly appear after BIOS reset or system-board configuration changes.

Load BIOS Default Settings

Turn the laptop on and repeatedly press Esc.

Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.

Select Exit > Load Setup Defaults.

Select Yes, then Save and Exit.

Allow the system to restart.

Restore BIOS Using HP Recovery (if needed)

Turn the laptop off.

Press and hold Windows + B.

Press the Power button once while holding the keys.

Release the keys when the BIOS recovery screen appears.

Allow BIOS recovery to complete and restart automatically.

I hope this helps.
