I have an HP Envy labtop and it recently started giving me pop up recommendations. Although I am not sure why they are called recommendations when it is for things like Priceline. They are adds and I want to know how to turn that off.

Hi @cgd15,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Turning Off HP Recommendations and Ads on Your HP Envy Laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
HP Support Assistant Settings:
- Open HP Support Assistant (This is usually pre-installed on HP laptops).
- Click on the Settings icon (gear icon) or navigate to Preferences.
- Look for a section related to Notifications or Messages.
- Uncheck options related to receiving marketing messages or product recommendations.
Notification Settings in Windows:
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to System > Notifications & actions.
- Scroll down to Get notifications from these senders.
- Find any HP-related apps (e.g., HP Support Assistant, HP Application) and turn off notifications.
Uninstall HP Support Assistant (if necessary):
- Press Win + X and select Apps and Features.
- Scroll down and find HP Support Assistant in the list.
- Click on it and select Uninstall if you no longer need the application.
Disable Pop-up Ads in Browser:
- Some ads might be browser-related. Check your browser settings for pop-up blockers.
- For Chrome:
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
- Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site Settings.
- Under Pop-ups and redirects, ensure it is blocked.
- For Edge:
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
- Go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
- Under Pop-ups and redirects, ensure it is blocked.
Check for Other HP Software:
- Some HP laptops come with multiple pre-installed software that could show recommendations.
- Check each one, like HP JumpStart or similar, and adjust their notification settings or uninstall them if necessary.
I hope this helps.
