I am at a loss on this one. I have had quirky issues with the HP SimplePass and the hardware drivers for the finger print reader. I have always been able to remove and reinstall in the past and the issues are resolved. For the past few weeks if not a month or more I have been trying to get my drivers and software to function. I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least a dozen times.
What the hell? This is extremely frustrating.

Oddly enough, when I went to bed last night it was not working. When I woke up this morning it was working. I even stated to delete all my SimplePass Data so I am not sure how it retained my finger prints.
The software does not allow my to get into the database to reset all my finger prints. It opens up a screen that says, Let's Get Started. I click the button and the progarm closes but I can still use one finger print to get into the system.
Very bizarre.

Thank you for replying,
If that's what you've done, please go ahead and update the BIOS as it resolves most of these issues,
Here are the instructions for you:
If your notebook has a fingerprint reader, then it uses a version of BIOS with biometric support. This allows other hardware and software to support the fingerprint reader. For best performance, check HP Software and Driver Downloads for BIOS updates for your specific model.
To check your current BIOS version:
-
Press the Power button to start the computer, then press the F2 key and select System Information from the listing.
The BIOS version is displayed.
-
Note the current BIOS version.
To look for BIOS updates:
-
Open a web browser and go to HP Software and Driver Downloads, then enter your product number.
-
Select the operating system currently on the computer, scroll down, and then expand BIOS.
The latest BIOS version download is listed.
-
If the BIOS available on the web site is a later version, download and install it. See HP Notebook PCs - Locate and Install Updated BIOS, Drivers, and Software for instructions.
If the BIOS is up-to-date, see if biometric support is enabled.
Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

My current version says F.25 and your site says the current available is F.25A. Should I still install it?
Oddly, I do not have HP SimplePass installed and the finger print reader is accepting my finger print to log me in. How is that possible without SimplePass being installed?

Hi @JPArizona,
Thanks for replying,
I appreciate your time and efforts,
Answering to your questions, When you install a driver and restart the PC next time it automatically installs the drivers. You could go ahead and check if the Simple pass software is installed or not. Without having the software installed the fingerprint reader might not work. I'm glad to hear it's working. If you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again.
And I Hope you have a good day, Ahead. Regards,

I don't think you understand. If HP SimplePass is not installed your fingerprints should not even be in the system right? So if SimplePass is not installed why is the fingerprint reader accepting my fingerprint. I need to get into the SimplePass database to redo my fingerprints. Currently only one fingerprint is working.

Hi @JPArizona,
Thank you for posting back.
Yes, I understand your question, I would like to inform you that there are two different things we are talking about. One is the fingerprint reader driver and the other is the simple pass software. The driver enables the fingerprint reader on your computer. A simple pass is a software which helps you use the fingerprint reader better with many additional features.
As, I have mentioned in my previous post, that when you uninstall any drivers they get installed automatically on the next restart.
Hope this answers your question.
Take care.
