I used File Explorer (there is no more Windows Explorer) and could not find the file HP Quick Launch so I can't delete the files to stop the annoying Adapter pop-up. What can I do to stop the annoying Adapter pop-ups?

On my laptop smrtadptr.exe is in C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP System Event. Instead of deleting it perhaps just rename until you figure out if it will cause other error messages. Such as smrtadptr.exe.old. I would also check Task Scheduler to see if it is listed there.
