HP2700
Microsoft Windows 11

Ok, this is getting a bit ridiculous!

My HP2700 is giving me a system error. I cannot update the drivers because it insists on using it's own wifi connection / operating system and that is not working at the moment (why not let me download and install via Windows???). Factory reset, printer setup via Android, printer setup via Windows 11, hard reset all fail. It does connect to wifi but displays an error when trying to update drivers.

When I try to get support via HP website it rejects my serial number. I have tried omitting the first letters but it simply does not recognize my s/n.

So I created an HP account and tried to access support dashboard. I tried two different browsers and they both get stuck 'loading devices' and never stop loading.

I am running a fairly new Win 11 installation on a fairly new laptop. Everything works except HP.

How do I proceed from here?

Hi @PrinTer1238899 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you’re facing a frustrating situation with your HP DeskJet 2700. Let’s try to tackle it step by step:

1. Check Printer's Connection and Status

  • Reconnect to WiFi: Ensure the printer is connected to your WiFi network properly. You might need to reconfigure the WiFi settings.
  • Printer Firmware: If the printer connects to WiFi but fails to update, it could be a firmware issue. Check if you can update the firmware from the printer’s menu or via its web interface.

2. Driver Installation

  • Manual Driver Installation: Try downloading the latest drivers directly from HP’s website on a different device and transfer them via USB drive to your Windows 11 laptop.
    1. Visit HP's support site.
    2. Search for your printer model and select the appropriate drivers for Windows 11.
    3. Download and transfer them to your laptop.

3. HP Support Dashboard Issues

  • Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, clearing your browser cache can help with loading issues.
  • Try Incognito Mode: Use incognito or private mode in your browser to avoid potential conflicts with extensions.
  • HP Support App: If available, use the HP Support Assistant app to troubleshoot and update drivers.

4. Serial Number Issue

  • Check for Typos: Ensure the serial number is entered correctly. It should be exactly as it appears on the printer.
  • Contact HP Support Directly: If the website isn’t recognizing your serial number, you might need to contact HP support via phone for assistance. Have your serial number handy and explain the issue in detail.

5. Factory Reset

  • Reset Printer: Perform a factory reset on the printer one more time, following the exact steps from the user manual. This might clear any underlying issues.

6. Use Windows Built-in Troubleshooters

  • Printer Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters and run the Printer Troubleshooter.

7. Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Uninstall and Reinstall: Uninstall the HP Smart app, restart your computer, and reinstall the latest version from the Microsoft Store.

8. Alternative Connection Methods

  • USB Connection: If possible, connect the printer directly to your laptop via USB and see if you can set it up this way.

Refer to this document: HP DeskJet 2700 All-in-One Printer series User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
