Hello, can anyone help please? I have an HP spectre running windows 11. It’s about 20 months old. It has suddenly started feeezing within seconds of startup. I can unfeeeze by closing and opening the lid but only remains unfrozen for a second or two. No Malware found in recent scan and Windows drivers are up to date. I just can’t work out what’s going on. I’m not a tecchy but did wonder if it’s a graphics driver issue (based on a Google search). Problem is there’s no time to check anything before it freezes.

Hi @Pinky1974,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially when you rely on your laptop and can't get it to stay functional long enough to troubleshoot. I'm here to help guide you through it!
Performing a hard reset erases all the information that is stored in your computer's temporary memory. This forces Windows to do a complete scan of the system, including the battery. Perform a power reset (or hard reset) of your computer to clear information from the computer's memory without erasing personal data.
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Remove any discs from the disc drive.
- Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
- Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
Note: Do not disconnect your mouse, keyboard, or monitor.
- With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Thanks Elohi,
I performed a hard reset but the problem remains unfortunately. I did a full restore but then having spoken to HP support on the phone they said a windows restore is unreliable and I would need to do an HP recovery. I am going to get the recovery file downloaded onto a USB stick.
