I uninstalled HP Support Assistant after I could not remove a notice that I needed to update an outdated driver that my OS does not even support. Now, it will not complete the reinstallation process. The green "Completing the installation" progress bar reaches the end and just starts over and over and over again. Many have been having this problem for years and it continues to be an issue. Help!

HI @AmeliaWysocki,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here are some steps to help resolve the installation looping issue with HP Support Assistant:
1. Use the HP Support Assistant Uninstaller
- Ensure the previous installation is completely uninstalled. You can use the official uninstaller from HP:
- Download the HP Support Assistant Uninstaller from the HP website and run it.
2. Clean Temporary Files
- Clear temporary files that might be causing the installation to fail:
- Press Windows + R, type %temp%, and hit Enter.
- Delete all files in the Temp folder.
3. Check for Existing HP Software
- Ensure there are no remnants of HP software that could conflict:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and uninstall any remaining HP software.
4. Reboot Your Computer
- After uninstalling, restart your computer to ensure all changes take effect.
5. Reinstall HP Support Assistant
- Download the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
- Run the installer as an administrator (right-click the installer and select "Run as administrator").
6. Use the HP Support Assistant Troubleshooter
- If the issue persists, you can use the built-in troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Look for the option to troubleshoot installations.
7. Check Windows Updates
- Make sure your Windows is up to date, as pending updates can cause installation issues:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
8. Install in Safe Mode (if necessary)
- If all else fails, try installing HP Support Assistant in Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer and press F8 (or Shift + F8) during startup to enter Safe Mode. Then, try installing again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Rachel, please re-read my problem.
I uninstalled HP Support Assistant after I could not remove a notice that I needed to update an outdated driver that my OS does not even support. Now, it will not complete the reinstallation process. The green "Completing the installation" progress bar reaches the end and just starts over and over and over again.
If it cannot be reinstalled, there is nothing to uninstall. My question is, why does the progress bar keep looping and how do we fix it?
