Hi @RonEvo,
Thank you for sharing the result. It looks like you mentioned No Hard Drive found, This indicates it's a Hardware issue. May I know did you got a chance to run the Battery test or other component tests on the Pc?
Please help us with your HP unit serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.

Hi VikramTheGreat.
I'm surprised that you think I have a hardware problem. The laptop was working well until I ran the official HP BIOS update. Immediately after that, the laptop wouldn't boot, as it can't find a hard drive [eMMC].
Personally, I think the BIOS update was the issue, & I'd like to reinstall the previous BIOS.
I couldn't see any other tests to run in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI). The only other thing I can access at the moment is the BIOS settings. Unless I try to run a testing app from a USB memory stick? What app would I use, please?
I messaged you my Product ID to you twice, & I don't know why these aren't being received. I attach a screenshot of my Sent Messages window. I'll message you again now in a further attempt to get my Product ID to you.
Thanks for your help,
Ron

Hi @RonEvo,
Thank you for your message, and I understand how concerning it is to encounter this issue following a BIOS update.
Based on the information you've shared, it appears that the hard drive (emmc) is no longer being detected by your system after the BIOS update. Since the laptop was functioning normally before the update, this suggests the issue may be related to the BIOS configuration or the update process itself.
Let's try a BIOS Restore that will try to get the previous or working BIOS back on the Pc.
BIOS Restore :
1) Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
2) Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks again for all your help, VikramTheGreat.
I might be in even more trouble now?
Following the above instructions only lead to low primary battery message, press Enter to continue, then Device [hard drive] not found (3FO).
I searched HP Support, which said some computers need Win key + v to restore BIOS, so I tried that.
Either way the battery alert comes up first. Also, BIOS has reverted to 2017 date & wrong time.
Win key + v key leads to low battery message, then CMOS Checksum invalid, so CMOS will reset & restart. On restart, it still can't find a hard drive.
But the laptop will boot into Windows Recovery on USB once I change the Boot Order in BIOS.
I notice I should be able to download the BIOS to USB, & run from there. Under my model number [14-bs017TU], HP downloads only shows the latest BIOS, which seems to have caused the boot up problem. Is it possible to download an earlier BIOS please? I'll again message you my Product Number in case the HP download page has the wrong BIOS download.

VikramTheGreat, Many thanks for your private messages sending info about my exact HP laptop.
I've decided replacing the Real Time Clock battery can wait, as it's underneath the motherboard, & thus a number of parts have to be taken off to get to it. Also, I'm in Australia & have to order online, so delivery won't be a quick process. I didn't appreciate how handy this laptop has been to me, until the current breakdown.
Acronis True Image on USB boot, has copied numerous files from my eMMC drive in my laptop.
Windows 10 Rescue USB > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt > Dir C: lists the folders & files on my eMMC too. So both these can read the eMMC, but the usual boot up of the laptop still can't.
I installed BIOS version F.53 from USB, but the laptop still can't find the eMMC to boot into Windows.
I then installed the latest version of BIOS [F.57], but still can't find the eMMC.
So I've no idea now what is wrong. Maybe a diagnosis program on USB might help figure out what's wrong?
Sorry to be such a bother, but I have no idea what's gone wrong,
Ron

Sincere thanks for your help VikramTheGreat. I created a case with HP & phoned them. But they couldn't help & recommend purchase of a new HP laptop. So I've ordered a new laptop, but now found that the following allows the laptop to boot.
Enter BIOS > System Configuration > Boot Options. Here enabled Legacy Support, & Legacy Boot Order = Hard Drive, then USB, last 2 options not applicable. F10 to save BIOS changes.
Laptop now boots up normally. All I need now is RTC battery, which I presume I can order online.
I can't see where to award you Kudos or Thumbs Up, but you deserve a lot of Kudos for all the time you have spent on my case.

Hi @RonEvo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words—that means a lot. I'm genuinely glad to hear you were able to get your laptop to boot again by enabling Legacy Support and adjusting the boot order in the BIOS. That's a clever workaround, and it’s great that you figured it out before the new laptop even arrived!
You're right: the RTC battery (CMOS battery) is usually a small coin-cell battery (often a CR2032, but double-check your model), and you can easily order one online from retailers like Amazon, eBay, or electronics stores like Best Buy. Replacing it should help prevent any future BIOS time or boot configuration resets.
Take care and have a good day.
