HP Support Assistant
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Support Assistant has become a bug. It shows that I have to install updates for one of my other laptops, which I had done when it appeared on the other laptop. But the Assistant on this laptop still says that I have updates on the other one.

But the bigger bug is that on the other laptop, Assistant shows updates for THIS laptop which have already been installed.

I have tried signing out and signing in again but no difference. Is there any fix?

Current laptop: HP Laptop - bs655tu

Other laptop:  HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab213nx (ENERGY STAR)

Short Answer:

No fix.

Discussion:

Could be a bug, although we don't have any way to judge.

The behavior is certainly a limitation that seems to affect both the software version (8.8.x) and the application version (9.6.x) of HP Support Assistant.

HPSA can usually accurately track and handle updates on the local system where the HP Support Assistant is installed.

HPSA does not accurately track updates on "remote" or "other" devices added to the local setup.

If you can't stand it:

  • Remove the "not local" device(s) from the local installation of the HP Support Assistant
  • Restart the computer and log in
  • Open HPSA and (re)add the computer / device you want to monitor

Temporarily, the removed / re-added device update list might appear to be correct...
