I'm having a problem with Support Assistant in that Windows doesn't think it is installed but if I try to install it I'm informed a newer version is already installed and the install routine quits on me.
How would I go about clearing out the "newer version" so I can reinstall the latest version I've just downloaded from your website?
Thanks

Thanks. Creating the new a new user account worked perfectly. Downloaded and installed th HP Support Assistant and it's running (well it runs when I tell it to anyway). Still don't seem to be able to get the icon to appear on my task bar near the sytem tray like it used to (on either login) but I can run it manually when I need to so that's great.
Thank you for your help

This may help you since it was the problem I had with installing HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT and getting rid of the HPSF.exe errors or HPSA.exe errors whichever it was.
The latest version of HPSA would not install. What happened is I would begin the install proceedure and after clicking the install button it would crash and a window would appear saying something like:
"HP SUPPORT SOLUTIONS FRAMEWORK HAS STOPPED WORKING"
Now I searched everywhere on the internet to find out how to fix this and nothing worked.
So, then I had the idea of trying to install an older version of HPSA (HP Support Assistant). When the older version started to install it also crashed, but this older version brought up a window that said:
".Net Framwork 3.5 is not installed on your Windows computer. You must install .Net Framework 3.5 before installing HPSA."
I should mention I am running windows 7 Home Premium Edition.
So I went to the control panel and clicked on "Programs and Features" and then clicked on "Turn Windows Features On and Off". When the new window loaded up it showed a "check box" for .Net Framework 3.5 (I'm almost certain it was 3.5, but you may have to try installing an older version of HPSA to get the exact info if my memory does not serve me correctly.) Then of course I checked the boxes related to .Net Framework 3.5 and installed the Framework. I guess somehow it had gotten uninstalled somewhere along the history of running the Operating System.
Now, I went back and tried to reinstall the latest version of HPSA and it installed perfectly. The long lost solution was finally found as to why HPSA would not install. The latest version of HPSA did not notify what the error was (relating to .net framework 3.5).
Therefore, if you are getting HPSA.exe/HPSF.exe errors and the latest version of HPSA will not install onto your windows computer, make sure you have all the basic versions of .Net Framework to ensure the proper installation of HPSA which will remove HPSA.exe/HPSF.exe errors from a previous problem with an installation/uninstallation.
Note: Afterwards, I actually uninstalled HPSA from my computer because I don't find it very useful, but for those of you having a problem with HPSA, this might be your fix. And doing a proper installation of the latest verision of HPSA will potentially remove the popup errors relating to HPSF.exe and what have you.
