Thunderbolt dock 3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Thunderbolt dock 3 not working aside from acting as a power src nothing else works. USB ports not recognized. Monitors not recognized. Network not recognized. I have installed all drivers etc ad infinitum. Dock did work briefly now no longer. Thunderbolt Software app shows no devices even when dock is connected to PC. And even when the windows 'Open devices and  Printers' tray icon shows the dock as connected. Go figure!

AFAIR when Thunderbolt Software app did *briefly* show the dock as a connected device the dock has *some* chance of working. This is a replacement dock. Its worse than the previous one as that one at least recognized monitors. Is there any chance of getting this working? I emailed hp support and manufacturer but heard nothing back? Not clear how to otherwise get support for this. Is there an alternative to Thuderbolt? It seems to have serious flaws.

Hello @striker78,

I just replied to a user with a similar issue.

The issue should be solved with the help of this Advisory Document but unfortunately, the first step of logging in to retrieve "SuperInstallerDriver_09_01_17.zip" doesn't seem to work.

I'll update you if I get any info about this.

Kind regards,

Eddy

I am also running into this issue as well. Any resolution on accessing the first file (SuperInstallerDriver_09_01_17) ?

My docking station has been working for the last 3 days (=> in a row). This is unprecendented though I am only using it for power and for 1 of the 2 ext monitors because the pc does not have a port for the 2nd monitor. Everything else is going directly in to the PC. If the dock continues to work for a few more days with just the 2nd monitor, I'll then check if monitor 1, network and usb ports work too.

Only major recent change in my config that I applied was the TPM Firmware security update using the HPE TPM Update Tool.

Also for the thunderbolt itself, this seems to be a pretty good reference https://support.hp.com/lv-en/document/c05932760. Also the HP SoftPaq Download Manager app seems to work pretty well for installing updates though it can be slow at times.

It happened that the dock did continue to work for a 5+ days with just the 2nd monitor, So I did also check to see if monitor 1, network and usb ports worked too. They didn't and the thunderbolt dock is now worse then it was. Monitor is not working.

It merely supplies power to the pc yet notably its power light doesnt come on - perhaps related to its lack of function??? Essentially I am without a dock station and this one has taken up way too much of my time. A docking station is something that should just work without the multiple downloads and all the hassle.

Overall I think that the Thunderbolt is an awful product that should be *quickly* replaced with something that works.
