Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598U8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

After installing recommended Firmware Update: HP Consumer Notebook PC BIOS Update (8A3C, 8A3D, 8A3E, 8A3F)

 my camera stopped working.
When I open "Camera" app in Windows or try to use Google Meet for example, camera doesn´t appear as installed. Then suddenly it connects and appear functional for almost one second, and finally turns off and disappears again.

I´ve been reading several post regarding to these topic but none of them achieved a succesfull solution, for example:

Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Windows search bar).
  • Look under "Imaging Devices" for the camera entry. If you see the camera there with a small error icon, right-click and try updating the driver or uninstall and reboot to let it auto-install. (This is like when my IT colleagues tells me "Restart it". PHd in IT support bro. LOL )

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use HP Support Assistant to check for any updates or diagnostics for your hardware. This tool often auto-detects and resolves common issues with HP components. (Sadly Useless 😞  )

Windows Update:

  • Ensure your Windows is fully up-to-date. Sometimes, specific updates or patches can resolve hardware compatibility issues. (Always. Done)

BIOS Update:

  • Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop model on the HP support website. An outdated BIOS can sometimes lead to hardware malfunctions. (¿Sarcasm? LOL)

HP Support:

  • If drivers truly seem unavailable on the HP website, there might be a temporary issue or update to their repository. You can reach out to HP Support for direct assistance or confirmation. (My Laptop is Out of warranty)

Camera Privacy Switch/Key:

  • Some HP laptops include a privacy switch or button to enable/disable the camera. Ensure this isn't engaged. (Not in HP Victus)

System Restore:

  • Consider using Windows System Restore to revert your system to a point when the camera was working. This won't affect your files but will revert system changes (Can´t be done because it´s firmware level change)

I tried to add some humor to the situation but, let´s imagine: I´m using my cellphone for my daily meetings right now... it´s a trully mess my dear.
