Hi,
where can I download the correct touchpad drivers for the HP Notebook?
HP's own official support site doesn't have drivers for that.. a bit worrying..?

Hi,
This has not been resolved yet...
HP admitted its mistake that the generic driver in question is not sufficient and can cause problems in the machines, but HP is not going to make any corrections.
I don't recommend a hardware repair because the problem would continue even after that because the fault is on the software side(driver issue).
This problem has been reported and discussed with HP IT-support and management, (including Executive Escalations Manager Josh), but no one seems to be interested in this issue and unfortunately you are alone with your problem...

Hi @User27271
That driver is generic and is installed by windows, you not need a HP driver.

ZBook Create G7 Touchpad cannot work with a generic driver because the touchpad itself is designed and built specifically for this computer model.
It is customized to fit the technical characteristics of the device and to work optimally only with the manufacturer's own, customized drivers for the device. The generic driver therefore does not recognize all the special functions of the touchpad and does not enable its full use.
this ZBook touchpad is not something that a generic driver can fully support and work with.

Touchpad sometimes lag or stops, mouse movement is inaccurate, mouse movespeed cannot be changed(because of that generic driver there is miscommunication between mobo and touchpad), overal lots of problems with that driver.
So yeah ofcourse there is problems and if you look little bit on internet there are more users too having problems with this..??! Generic drivers ffs..
so wheee is my HP specific driver for touchpad?!!????

if you in the device manager click on HID compatible touch panel, and then under details and select the hardware ID you will see the following, This indicates that a Generic ELAN touch driver ( no synaptics) , and the features are all configured, go to windows configuration and there you will see that you have all the functions of this touch .
And this is purposely done this way to have a better integration with windows.
HID\VEN_ELAN&DEV_073D&Col03

Your answer wasn’t helpful.
As I already mentioned, many functions and features aren't working due to the generic driver and non-generic device. Even the Windows settings have no effect on the mouse behavior. Adjusting the mouse speed, enhancing pointer precision, and other settings don’t impact the mouse movement or behavior.
Additionally, many settings are missing because Windows can't fully communicate with the touchpad—due to, as you guessed, the generic driver.

there is no excuse for this.
If the device has non-generic hardware, such as the touchpad here. It should always have its own driver and not a generic driver, which in this case doesn't even work with this touchpad...

Where are the separate touchpad settings?
Because the Windows settings clearly do nothing.
Changing the Windows mouse settings has no effect on the touchpad operation.
These HP laptops are amazing devices. I will definitely recommend them to my friends in the future!...(sarcastically)
