I think it's best that we wait until there's update within the Forum or HP Support Assistant software or whichever comes first..

Honestly, the more reading on do on what this program does it doesn't seem to be worth the effort or worth running all the time. It might park your drive heads (if you have an SSD this program adds no benefits) if the computer's on and it detects enough acceleration to set off the program. I'd think, especially with my Pavillion, you'd have a cracked case, parts loose inside, possibly even a cracked screen. Making backups of your important files regularly is more important. I maintain more than one copy of my important files weekly and usually do one before allowing any major Windows update to happen.

I agree.. Those with SSD do not need this software unless you're using a HD.. Nonetheless, those with laptops with HD, should not take this matter lightly.. I'm sure minor shakes or bumps is tolerable unless the laptop falls on a floor hard..

If your laptop falls on the floor 'hard' the HD is probably going to be the least and least expensive worries. You're going to likely have a cracked case or screen. Components broken loose inside. As has been previously mentioned by another user the Accelorometer is a bandaid where stitches are required. I just don't feel it's necessary. I've got a lot of the built-in software, ShadowPlay, JumpStart a bunch of stuff that quick research said "Ya'll really don't need that." I like a minimalist machine.

SOLUTION!

I scanned these forums - tried the various fixes to no avail.
Surprised that the Support Assistant was no help.
Finally went to the HP.com support page, where I found the following Advisory.

It links to driver download SP 82755 which fixed the problem on my HP Pavillion x360 15010-nr

I did hope this last psot, referring to an HP document, would solve the problem (very annoying message each time you start up), but after downloading and installing nothing further happens. Did I do something wrong? Is it only applicable to laptop with AMD-processors??

If you read back I've tried three different service packs one recommended on some other set of forums, another recommended here and finally I looked up my exact model and serial number and used to solution offered there (Intel Core i5 7th gen.) not one worked. Other people have tried one and done and then there's folks like me who've had no luck with anything I tried.

Thanks Dr_SPH!

The SP 82755 update worked for my Envy 17T-N100.  I had the 6.0.28.1 version installed, ran the 82755 update and rebooted -- no more incompatibility warning.  However, HP 3D Drive Guard still shows up in my Apps as 6.0.28.1 so the update didn't change the version number to 6.0.44.1.

Perfect!  Thanks!

Ah, this is exactly what went wrong with me. What SP82755 does is nothing more (and less) than suppress the message that there's an incomptability. I did look into it and there'it was: echoOFF (even twice).

So it was very simple (on my Pavilion 17-ab000 with the latest Win10 Fall Creators SW):

- uninstall any old HP 3D DriveGuard SW

- install SP81142 (gave me DriveGuard 6.0.41.1). This will still give the incomptabiity warning when rebooting.

- then download SP82755 (can be obtained by clicking see below) and install. The next time you reboot the message will most propably be gone.

Let's hope this means the 3D SW really works 😉
